2008

2008 in review!

An assortment of pictures from my journeys this year.

2008-11-23 Snoqualmie Mountain Slideshow

8 Miles RT - 3200' Elevation Gain

2008-11-15 Eagle Creek Trail and Tunnel Falls Slideshow

14 Miles RT - 1200' Altitude Gain

Look closely, yes those are people on that cliff and yes they are going to walk behind that waterfall. Tunnel Falls on Oregon's Eagle Creek Trail has been on my to-do list all year. I invited Mike of MikesHikes fame to come along with me on this incredible hike near the Columbia River Gorge. Please take a look at his site for a detailed report of our trip and click the picture below for a slideshow.

2008-10-12 Lake Chelan Trip Slideshow

Miscellaneous  pictures from our Lake Chelan Trip.

2008-10-11 Pot Peak and Chelan Butte Slideshow

10 Miles - 3000' Elevation Gain

During a trip to Lake Chelan with the family, I took a morning and found a place to hike. Pot Peak was not one of my favorite hikes, as it was burnt out and did not offer many view opportunities but it did offer solitude. I also Drove up to the top of Chelan Butte, wow nice panorama.

2008-09-14 Old Snowy Mountain Slideshow

14 Miles RT - 3500' Elevation Gain

I enjoyed the Goat Rocks so much I had to go back.

2008-09-07 Goat Lake and Snowgrass Flat  Journal

14 Miles - 3000' Elevation Gain

Rarely have I seen such beauty, sadly the pictures and video do not do this hike justice.

2008-08-20 PCT Leavitt Lake to Sonora Pass Journal

10 Miles - 2000' Elevation Gain

This was such a nice overnight hike. At almost 10,000 feet in elevation, the thin air was a little hard to get used to.

Walk with me as we hike a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail near Sonora Pass in California.

2008-08-17 Pinecrest Lake National Recreation Trail Slideshow

9 Miles - 700' Elevation Gain

We went to Pinecrest Lake in California for a week of vacation this year. These pictures are from my hike around the lake.

2008-08-03 Royal Basin Slideshow

15 Miles RT - 3500' Elevation Gain

I've never seen so many fish jumping in a lake in the middle of the day as I did at Royal on this hike. Oh yeah, pretty place too. Long day hike, next time I'll overnight it!

2008-07-13 Marmot Pass Slideshow

14 Miles RT - 3500' Elevation Gain

Wow, that's all I can say.

2008-06-29 Mt Townsend Slideshow

6 Miles RT - 2000' Elevation Gain

Mt Townsend via Little Quilcene Trail. Great Day, great views.

2008-06-22 Mt Townsend Slideshow

8 Miles RT - 3000' Elevation Gain

Mt Townsend via Mt Townsend Trail. Cloudy so no good views this day.

2008-06-08 Dog Mountain Slideshow

7 Miles RT - 3000' Elevation Gain

This was one of my favorite hikes as the scenery was about as good as it gets. I highly recommend this hike to anyone willing to climb this mountain. Go in the late spring as the flowers are unbelievable. I forgot my camera and bought a disposable so the pics are OK, but could have been much better.

2008-05-10 Lakeshore Trail Journal

18 Miles - 3000' Elevation Gain (estimate of ups and downs along lake)

In May of 2008 I went on my very first solo overnight backpacking trip. While some may think it foolish to go solo, I found it to be refreshing, as I could hike at my own pace and I didn't have to find a trip partner or make any of those kind of arrangements.

2008-04-12 Green Mountain Slideshow

6 to 12 Miles RT depending on route - 1000' Elevation Gain

One of several trips I made up Green Mountain this spring.

2008-01-21 Guillimot Cove Slideshow

4 Miles RT - 300' Elevation Gain

This was a short hike I took with my son Hayden. Very cold that day but clear.

2008-01-13 Joshua Tree National Park Slideshow

In January I had to go to 29 Palms California for work and took a day to explore Joshua Tree.
